* 어느 작은 카메라 1 / Nikon 35Ti

일명 '똑딱이'라 불리는 카메라들이 있습니다. (PnS; Point-and-Shoot, Compact Camera)

간편하게 들고 다닐 수 있어서 저렴한 가격대의 보급형들이 많지만, 이 계열에서도 특수하게 정교한 메커니즘과 렌즈 성능으로 무장한 몇몇 고급 PnS 카메라들이 있습니다.

그중에 개인적으로 무난하게 쓰기 좋은 카메라는 Nikon 35Ti였습니다. 이름처럼 티타늄 바디이며 A, T 모드, 슬로우 싱크 플래시를 지원합니다. 슬로우 싱크 플래시는 역광 촬영 시 필인(Fill-in) 용도로도 사용할 수 있습니다.
중립적인 화질과 선예도, 그리고 무엇보다 상판의 바늘식 디스플레이가 주는 아날로그 느낌이 참 좋습니다. (작동에는 이상이 없는데 바늘이 느슨해서 밀리는 고장이 잦습니다.)
어느 카메라나 그 특징들이 있고 나름의 장단점이 있기 마련입니다. 이 녀석은... 시원한 생수 같은 느낌입니다. 특별히 자기 색깔이 강하지 않으면서도 시원하고 깔끔한 느낌입니다.
한때는 35mm (35Ti), 28mm (28Ti) 렌즈 대용으로 출사 중에는 오른쪽 허리춤에 항상 있었던 카메라였습니다.

서브로 필름 카메라를 쓰기에는 이런 PnS들이 좋긴 한데, 요즘은 구하기도 어렵고 가격도 너무 비싸진 것 같습니다. (필름값도 비싸서 대부분 처분했습니다. ^^;)
혹시나 용도가 있으신 분께 추천드리는 기종들은 35mm : Nikon 35Ti, Contax T3, Contax T2, Leica Minilux / 28mm : Minolta TC-1, Ricoh GR28, Nikon 28Ti / 21mm : Ricoh GR21 등입니다. (참고로 저에게 최고의 애장품은 GR21이었습니다.)

* A Small Camera 1 / Nikon 35Ti

There are cameras commonly known as "point-and-shoot" cameras. (PnS; Point-and-Shoot, Compact Camera)

Although many are affordable, entry-level models because they are easy to carry around, there are also a few high-end PnS cameras in this category, equipped with exceptionally refined mechanisms and outstanding lens performance.

Among them, the Nikon 35Ti was, for me, an easy and comfortable camera to use. As its name suggests, it has a titanium body and supports A and T modes, as well as slow-sync flash. Slow-sync flash can also be used as fill-in flash when shooting against the light.
I particularly like its neutral image quality and sharpness, and above all, the analog feel of the needle-based display on the top plate. (There is no problem with its operation, but the needle often becomes loose and slips out of place.)
Every camera has its own characteristics, with its own strengths and weaknesses. This one... feels like a refreshing bottle of water. It does not have a particularly strong character of its own, yet it feels fresh and clean.
For a time, when I went out shooting, this camera was always at my right hip, serving as a substitute for 35mm (35Ti) and 28mm (28Ti) lenses.

These PnS cameras are quite nice as secondary film cameras, but these days they seem difficult to find and far too expensive. (Film has become expensive as well, so I have sold most of mine. ^^;)
For those who might have a use for them, the models I would recommend are 35mm: Nikon 35Ti, Contax T3, Contax T2, Leica Minilux / 28mm: Minolta TC-1, Ricoh GR28, Nikon 28Ti / 21mm: Ricoh GR21. (For me, the GR21 was the most cherished of them all.)
